Οποιος ασχολείται -έστω και επιδερμικά- με Online Marketing, SEO & Social Media, αποκλείεται να μην έχει ακούσει το όρο “Interest Graph”. Πρόκειται για μία νέα σχετικα θεωρία, η οποία τοποθετεί στο επίκεντρο της προσοχής (των εταιρειών) τον άνθρωπο -χρήστη του internet & των Social Media- και τα ενδιαφέροντα του. Ουσιαστικα μιλάμε για μία data mining process η οποία μας δίνει πλούσιο υλικό για τους χρήστες του Internet & των Social Media, βοηθώντας τις εταιρείες να εμπλουτίσουν το προφίλ των πελατών τους ώστε να καταλάβουν τις ανάγκες/επιθυμίες τους,  για να τους προσφέρουν tailor-made προτάσεις προϊόντων και  added value υπηρεσίες, βασιζόμενες στην ανάλυση των στοιχείων αυτών ή ακόμα και να βρούν νέες niche market αγορές προς εκμετάλλευση.

Ο πυλώνας πίσω απο την θεωρία του Interest Graph είναι η συσπείρωση χρηστών του internet & των Social Media γύρω απο κοινά ενδιαφέροντα και events – ένα φαινόμενo καθολικά αποδεκτό από όλους στον χώρο των Social Media. Οι εταιρείες προσπαθούν να δημιουργήσουν αλγόριθμους οι οποίοι θα είναι σε θέση να τους δώσουν πολύτιμα στοιχεία: π.χ. ενδιαφέροντα, δημογραφικά στοιχεία χρηστών, psychographics, επάγγελμα, κλπ. Στην συνέχεια οι εταιρείες θα μπορουν να κατηγοριοποιήσουν τους χρήστες αυτούς σε ομάδες (ανάλογα με τα ενδιαφέροντα τους) και να τους πλησιασουν μέσω tailor-made διαφημιστικών campaigns, κάνοντας τους στοχευμένες προτάσεις (ανάλογα με το προφίλ και τα ενδιαφέροντα τους). Ετσι οι εταιρείες θα μεγιστοποιήσουν το αποτέλεσμα και τα οφέλη απο τις διαφημιστικές τους καμπάνιες επιτυγχάνοντας market penetration σε πολύ υψηλό βαθμό.

Εκτός των παραπάνω, το Interest Graph μπορεί να προσφέρει και άλλες δυνατότητες στις εταιρείες. Δεν γνωρίζω πόσοι απο εσάς έχετε διαβάσει το βιβλίο «Συνδεδεμένοι» του Dr. Christakis. Το τελευταίο διαπραγματεύεται τα δίκτυα, την δομή τους και τον τρόπο λειτουργίας των μελών του δικτύου. Για όσους δεν το έχετε διαβάσει, ο συγγραφέας μας αναλύει πως σε κάθε δίκτυο κάποιοι χρήστες βρίσκονται στο επίκεντρο του δικτύου και κάποιοι στην περιφέρεια. Αυτοι που βρίσκονται στο κέντρο είναι οι «ενεργοί» και με τις περισσότερες συνδέσεις, σε σχέση με αυτούς που βρίσκονται περιφερειακά του δικτύου. Αυτοί που είναι στο κέντρο μπορούν να χαρακτηριστούν και σαν opinion leaders, καθώς είναι σε θέση να επηρρέασουν ένα μεγάλο μέρος του δικτύου. Σε αυτό το σημείο, η παρουσία του Interest Graph είναι σε θέση να ανοίξει νέες δυνατότητες και προοπτικές για τις εταιρείες: οι εταιρείες –μέσω του Interest Graph- είναι σε θέση να έχουν στατιστικα στοιχεία (στην προκειμένη περίπτωση π.χ.  μπορεί να είναι πόσους followers έχει στο twitter κάθε μέλος ενός forum για την Gillette). Εχοντας μια λίστα με τους 100 χρήστες οι οποίοι έχουν τους περισσότερους followers  στο twitter, οι εταιρείες ουσιαστικά έχουν βρεί τους Opinion leaders της συγκεκριμένης αγοράς, και έχουν την  ευκαιρία  να τους ενσωματώσουν στο product cycle ενός προϊόντος. Τι εννοούμε με αυτο?  Είναι γεγονός, ότι η Gillette πρίν λανσάρει κάποιο νέο προϊόν, δίνει την ευκαιρεία στους followers της στο twitter ή στα μέλη του forum της ιστοσελίδας της να το δοκιμάσουν και καταγράφει εντυπώσεις και γενικά feedback. Ετσι οι Opinion leaders  και προσφέρουν σημαντικό insight στην εταιρεία (impressions) αλλά και ενημερώνουν (και εμμέσως επηρρεάζουν) λόγω της θέσης τους  στο κέντρο του δικτύου (σαν opinion leaders) τους χρήστες που βρίσκονται περιφερειακά του δικτύου.

Οι Max Levchin & Bill Gurley –δύο απο τους πιο προβεβλημένους opinion leaders της αγοράς του online marketing & Social Media, προ μηνών στο συνέδριο της Goldman Sachs Technology & Internet Conference στο San Francisco, θέλοντας να τονίσουν την ολοένα και αυξανόμενη σημασία του Interest Graph για το online marketing, ανέφεραν χαρακτηριστικά ότι η επόμενη μεγάλη εταιρεία (“the next big thing”) επιπέδου Google ή Facebook θα είναι η εταιρεία που θα έχει ενσωματώσει πλήρως το Interest Graph στον Μodus Operandi της. Απο ότι φαίνεται λοιπόν, το Interest Graph θα διαδραματίσει ακόμα πιο σημαντικό ρόλο στα επόμενα χρόνια για τις εταιρείες.

Κύριο μέλημα και πρωταρχικός στόχος κάθε εταιρείας που ενεργοποιείται στον χώρο του διαδικτύου –έχοντας την δικής της ιστοσελίδα-είναι να καταφέρει να αυξήσει τον αριθμό των επισκεπτών στο site της. Πως όμως μπορεί να το πετύχει αυτό? Μιλώντας απο προσωπική πείρα σαν επαγγελματίας στον χώρο του SEO μπορώ να σας προτείνω τουλάχιστον τρείς (3):

1. Συγγραφή άρθρων
2. Social Media
3. Link σε sites

 Τι εννοούμε όμως με τα παραπάνω? Ας προσπαθήσουμε να κάνουμε μία μικρή αναλύση:

1. Συγγραφή άρθρων.  Ο υπεύθυνος για το SEO της εταιρείας θα πρέπει να συγγράφει άρθρα σε πολύ τακτικά διαστήματα (2-3 ημερών) σχετικα με το αντικείμενο της εταιρείας (προϊόντα ή υπηρεσίες της). Τα άρθρα αυτά θα πρέπει να εμπεριέχουν χρήσιμη πληροφορία, κάποια hints & tips, συμβουλές για την επιλογή ενος προϊόντος, οτιδήποτε που ο χρήστης θα αξιολογήσει σαν χρήσιμη πληροφορία. Σε μερικές περιπτώσεις (π.χ. ενημερωτικα sites, news portals etc) μπορεί η αρθρογραφία αυτή να αφορά και την δημοσιογραφία των τελευταίων ημερών, πράγμα που βοηθά ακόμα πιο πολύ, γιατι ενα ενδιαφέρον αρθρο με κάποιον τρόπο-τινά προκλητικό τίτλο, μπορεί να τραβήξει την προσοχή του κοινού. Παραδείγματος χάριν, την εβδομάδα που κατέλαβαν οι επαναστάτες την Τρίπολη, δημιουργησα ένα  αρθρο σχετικα με τις αποκαλύψεις των Λιβυκών αρχείων για την προσπάθεια του Καντάφι να χρησιμοποιήσει Αμερικανούς λομπίστες για να αποτρέψει μια ΝΑΤΟϊκή επέμβαση στην χωρα του (http://telia.co.gr/blog/libyan-secret-files-reveal-that-former-us-officials-advised-qaddafi-on-how-to-wage-a-propaganda-war-to-save-his-regime/). Το άρθρο εκτος απο ενδιαφέρον (ή τουλάχιστον έτσι θέλω να πιστεύω) ήταν και επίκαιρο, γιατι πολλοί χρήστες στο Internet εκείνη την περίοδο έψαχναν να διαβάσουν πληροφορίες και νέα σχετικα με τα γεγονότα στην Λιβύη. Πράγμα που βοήθησε και το αρθρο μου ώστε να το διαβάζουν αρκετοί χρήστες (φυσικά με την βοήθεια Metatags ώστε να εμφανίζεται στις αναζητήσεις της Google). Και φυσικά μέσα στο αρθρο μου υπήρχε ένα Link για το blog μου, ώστε να μου διασφαλίσει ότι κάποιοι απο τους αναγνώστες του άρθρου μου θα το ακολοθούσαν, ώστε να μπούν να διαβάσουν και άλλα (θέλω να πιστεύω ενδιαφέροντα) άρθρα στο blog μου.
2. Social Media.  Τα Social Media -εαν χρησιμοποιηθούν σωστά-μπορούν να ενημερώσουν το κοινό για την εταιρεία και τα προϊόντα/υπηρεσίες σας. Για να γίνει αυτό όμως θα πρέπει να αφιερώνετε κάθε μέρα προσωπικό χρόνο και προσπάθεια. Να θυμάστε πάντα ότι δεν τα χρησιμοποιείτε για να κοροϊδεψετε τον κόσμο. Κάποιοι δημιουργούν παραδείγματος χάριν μία σελίδα στο Facebook και ανεβάζουν καθε μέρα ανακοινώσεις της εταιρείας τους-ουσιαστικά hard selling μηνύματα. Ετσι δεν πρόκειται να κερδίσετε κάτι, γιατι και οι λίγοι φίλοι που έχετε, θα βαρεθούν πολύ συντομα και θα φυγουν. Αντιθέτως, θα πρέπει να έχετε διαφορετική προσέγγιση: θα πρέπει να ανεβάζετε νέα που αφορούν την αγορά που ενεργοποιείται η εταιρεία σας (π.χ. εάν είστε λογιστικό γραφείο μπορείτε να ανεβάσετε ένα Link απο μία νέα εγκύκλιο του υπουργείου Οικονομικών σχετικα με Φορολογικά-Τελωνειακά θέματα), ή να προτείνετε απλές και χρήσιμες συμβουλές στον τοίχο σας (π.χ. λίστα με e-mail και τηλέφωνα για τις ΔΟΥ). Κάνοντας αυτά θα μπορείτε επίσης να ενημερώσετε τον τοίχο σας (Facebook) σχετικά με τα προϊόντα / υπηρεσίες της εταιρείας σας. Το συμπέρασμα ειναι ότι εάν αποφασίσετε να εμπλακείτε με τα Social Media να το κάνετε με σωστό τρόπο και σεβόμενοι -πάντα- το κοινό τους. Εαν το κάνετε βομβαρδίζοντας τους με μηνύματα πώλησης, δεν θα επιτύχετε απολύτως τίποτα.
3. Links σε credible sites.  Εχοντας δημιουργήσει ένα ενδιαφέρον άρθρο (π.χ. στην δική μου περίπτωση σχετικα με την Λιβύη και την πτώση του Καντάφι), μπορείτε να επισκεφθείτε news portals της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού και κάνοντας Login για να μπορείτε να σχολιάσετε τα άρθρα τους, να κάνετε ένα Post- σε σχετικό θέμα με το θέμα του άρθρου σας- στο οποίο θα αναφέρετε αφ’ ενός μέν ποιός είστε και αφ’ετέρου δε, ότι έχετε γράψει ένα αρθρο σχετικό με το θεμα του news portal – αφήνετε και το Link σας, με την ευγενική σημείωση, πώς εάν κάποιος θέλει μπορεί να το διαβάσει. Εάν είστε ευγενικός και ειλικρινής και εάν το άρθρο που έχετε γράψει είναι πραγματικά ενδιαφέρον, τότε θα καταφέρετε πολλοί αναγνώστες του News portal να το ακολουθήσουν και να το διαβάσουν. Προσοχή όμως γιατι η διαδικασία ειναι δίκοπο μαχαίρι. Η Google αξιολογεί ακόμα και τον χρόνο που οι επισκέπτες μένουν στο site σας, πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι εαν το αρθρο σας δεν εχει valuable content, τότε οι επισκεπτες θα μείνουν ελάχιστα στο site σας, και η Google με την σειρά της, καταγράφοντας το γεγονός/τάση ότι οι επισκέπτες στο site σας έμειναv έλάχιστα, θεωρεί αυτόματα πως εφυγαν γιατι δεν τους ικανοποίησε το content σας-και άρα θα σας αξιολογήσει με πολύ χαμηλό βαθμό. Συνεπως δεν έχει σημασία εαν εσείς καταφέρατε –βάζοντας Link π.χ. στους ΝΥ Times – να επιτύχετε 100 επισκέπτες να ακολουθήσουν το Link σας. Σημασία έχει, να μείνουν αρκετή ώρα μέσα στην ιστοσελίδα σας, και να μην φύγουν κατευθείαν, και με έναν μόνο τρόπο μπορείτε να το επιτύχετε αυτό: μέ valuable content.

 Ελπίζω να σας βοήθησα –έστω και λίγο- να καταλάβετε τι σημαντική διαδικασία ειναι για κάθε εταιρικό site η συγγραφή άρθρων και κειμένων, καθώς και πόσο σημαντικό είναι να είστε αληθινοί απέναντι στους επισκέπτες / χρήστες του Internet  & των Social Media.

One of the most famous Aesop myths is the one where a hare challenges a tortoise into a race. The race is on, and almost immediately the hare rushes into it, gaining substantial distance over the tortoise. However, having already covered half the distance to the finish line, the hare – clearly underestimating the tortoise- stops and decides to rest & take a nap. This proves to be a fatal mistake, because the tortoise eventually covers the distance and finishes first, commending that: “Plodding -not speed- wins the race”. I find that the moral of the story is also very enlightening regarding SEO: speed will not make you a winner- SEO requires dedication and time, in order to achieve credible results.

 In order to succeed in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you must have the following:

1. Vision: What you want to achieve be employing SEO. State your goal.
2. Target Segment: Must determine the audience type that you plan to appeal to.
3. Strategy: A list of steps that will lead you to your goal-a detailed plan in other words.
4. Create worthy content: Attract your audience’s attention: offer them hints & tips, advices, news they’re interested in, and provoke discussions. This is very important. If your content is worthless, then you just have condemned your SEO efforts to failure. All SEO professionals agree:  “Content is King”.  
5. Long term commitment to SEO and Social Media activities: Get to know your audience/target group and try to best serve them. Establish your credibility by offering valuable advice and build a bond of trust with them. This takes A LOT OF TIME.
6. Promotion: Inform your audience about your company/products. At all costs, avoid a hard selling policy that will irritate your target group, resulting in your isolation and disrepute.
7. Learn to adapt or extinct: Monitor your competitors. Single-out the most prominent of them, and apply stealth tactics in order to study them closely.

 Quite often these days, you come across some professionals (or companies) in the market who are very much interested in SEO, but they expect immediate results and take as granted that their participation in the whole project is limited only to the part of paying for the services rendered (for SEO). This not true, and I always take time explaining to them, that their participation in the SEO project is vital. Without their insights, support and knowledge any SEO effort is doomed. In addition, I always emphasize to them, that SEO requires considerable time in order to achieve results. Many clients have the erroneous perception that as soon as you set Meta title/keywords/descriptions and a Facebook / Twitter account, success will be waiting for them in the next corner. This is not true however, and I always find myself enjoying giving them a wake-up call and forcing them to embrace reality-especially their look of disappointment, that you can easily distinguish if you take a closer look to their eyes and face expressions. Man I just love it! 

 Speaking from experience –as an SEO professional- I can only say this: SEO requires that you invest heavily in time and in effort in order to achieve success: countless hours of Social Media engaging, writing Press Releases / valuable content and link building. It must be understood that entering the realm of SEO requires customers’ long term commitment, and is a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. And that’s why companies engaging in SEO efforts must adopt the tortoise behavior (small steps at a time, good organization, and long term commitment) and not the hare’s (rushing for results from day 1).

During the past few months, a wind of change swept through North Africa and the Middle East and the world witnessed something unique, never been seen before: a rising tide of citizen-led protesters, protesting against autocratic and corrupt regimes that hold no respect to individual rights and liberal freedoms, forcing a domino effect of dictators abdicating and fleeing abroad -in most cases to the mother country of all “Black Sheep” dictators: Saudi Arabia.

Hosni Mubarak (Egypt), Ben Ali (Tunisia), Abdullah Saleh (Yemen), and now Gaddafi (Libya) and Assad (Syria), all these dictators have something in common: certainly they didn’t see it coming! They underestimated growing public discontent and the dynamics of  Social Media, perhaps due to the fact that they held power for many years (even decades), thus they controlled completely and effectively all critical government branches (e.g. the Police, the  Army or the State Media), and they felt assured that their reign will continue forever. Sadly (for them), there is no such thing as “forever”.

But to what extend Social Media shaped the fortunes of the people in North Africa and the Middle East? What makes them so effective? Well, it is the author’s opinion, that the undisputed rise of Social Media, marks the end of Tyrant era for several reasons:

First of all, Social Media provide uncontrolled and un-edited information for the masses, bypassing the State controlled media propaganda. In Hitler’s Germany-around mid 1930’s- there was only one German radio station operating and since it was controlled by the government, it meant that the German public would have to listen (all day long) to Hitler’s speeches and propaganda messages. Contrary with today, where the great advantage of the Internet & Social Media –due to its structural design and universal character- is that they cannot be censored. They simply cannot be controlled by any government or business group. Sultan Suood Al Qasimi who had an active role during the Egyptian revolution against former President Mubarak, and had more than 50.000 followers on Twitter, said that at one point an Egyptian come to him and asked him to stop tweeting that the Police had evacuated certain large areas of Cairo, because this would cause mass panic and hysteria to the crowds. This is how effective his twits were.

In addition, in a totalitarian  (one party) regime, Social Media can-up to a point- play the role of the  opposition party, constantly checking the government and even criticizing, the later, for their oppressing policies and excessive civilian abuse. In Syria for example, activists that used Social Media, successfully launched the “Syria Tracker” application, which monitors and documents unrest areas and human rights abuses by the Syrian government. Shortly after, due to its vast numbers of visitors, the “Syrian Tracker” (owning its publicity to Social Media coverage), became “a fait accompli” adopted by the World Press and Media, having as a result for the Syrian government to draw heavy fire from international Media, foreign governments and organizations (such as the UN).

Moreover, Social Media can be seen as a platform laying the democratic & humanitarian foundations for each country to follow and uphold. There is an undisputed “Global culture” that contains some principles that are globally accepted by all people, such as: Freedom of speech, the Right to vote and others. In his 1992 book “The End of History and the Last Man” Francis Fukuyama, claimed that “…what we may be witnessing is not just the end of the Cold War, or the passing of a particular period of post-war history, but the end of history as such: that is, the end point of mankind’s ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government”. Social Media due to their Western origins, regard the respect by any authority of these Human Rights as self evident. Thus, it is difficult for a totalitarian regime to suppress the people, in a country where the majority of the people use and interact through Social Media. For example, in Egypt according to statistics, almost ¾ of the internet users were using Social Media. In such a global, digital environment it is becoming increasingly difficult for totalitarian regimes to resist or deny respect of Human Rights or democratic reforms or elections. Dictators now days are facing a digital invasion of their realm, by a global culture -based on humanitarian and democratic principles, as described by F. Fukuyama- that is highly contagious, that they cannot restrain or ban, and eventually, this will lead to their fall. Former President Mubarak in Egypt was one of the first to realize the dynamics of the Social Media, thus during the early days of the Egyptian revolution, he hastily issued a directive, banning internet access to the country.

In addition, Social Media have another distinctive characteristic: Immediate effect, meaning, the publication of news/messages. Anyone with a mobile phone can take TV snapshots and post it over the web in order to inform the public. During the first days of the Syrian revolution in several cities where the army was battling the protesters and had enforced a “buffer zone” around them, so no information – regarding the military operations-would be available to the public, citizens of those cities used Social Media and Internet in order to upload live photos and info from the raging battles. It was through these channels that the World Media were informed of the Syrian army’s atrocities.

As an epilogue, we can conclude that although the main driving force behind the Arab Spring rests in the oppressive & highly corrupted nature of the, above mentioned, totalitarian regimes, Social Media contributed significantly in the Arab Spring.

“Propaganda is the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist”
-Definition of the word “propaganda” by Garth Jowett and Victoria O’Donnell-

 Leni Riefenstahl’s film: “Triumph of the Will” (1934), chronicles the 1934 Nazi Party Congress of 1934 in Nuremberg. The film was created with the sole purpose of glorifying the Nazi ideology and appeal to the masses, and it was produced by the German state itself.  Nazi regime made huge efforts in order to make sure that the film would be seen by virtually everyone in Germany, ordering all party members[1] to view it along with their families, made it obligatory for all children attending school to view it along with their teachers, and generated great publicity through the state controlled media of the time: radio and newspapers.  The film –naturally- was a smashing hit, earning approximately around 900.000 Reich marks. However, after the WWII, the film was considered as a prototype for all future propaganda films and a product of Nazi culture, while the director was sentenced to 4 year imprisonment and criticized for using spectacular filmmaking to promote and glorify an inherently corrupted regime, responsible for millions of dead people.

In what can be seen as  a anachronistic decision, modern day China, presumed that the Nazi doctrine of 1934 (of bringing party ideology and culture to the masses through the use of cinema), still holds true today, and rushed to exploit it[2].  Beijing, through the state-run China Film Group, sponsored the creation of the propaganda film “Founding of a Party”, investing  $ 12million. The movie glorifies the Chinese Communist Party, as having led the country to a glorious path of independence, liberation, uniformity, national wealth and placing China into the international  scene, at least as a force to be reckoned with, if not, a super power equal only to the USA.  All the mechanisms of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) were set in motion in order to make sure public attendance is achieved. Beijing placed a temporary ban on all Hollywood blockbuster films, such as “Transformers 3” or the new Harry Potter film, limiting the range of all available film choices for the Chinese public wanting to go to the movies, to virtually only one (choice): “Founding of a Party”. In addition, film participation was deemed as obligatory for all children attending school (feel free to make a comparison with the policies of the Nazist Germany), in order to get acquainted with the Communist Party principles and policies-aka the “Red Education”. However, the CCP made an minor alteration to the Nazi film formula, adding a new twist: The bulk of both local and international Chinese actors were encouraged to participate in the project, in order to further enhance public acceptance-meaning, even if you weren’t interested in viewing a propaganda film, perhaps you would still watch it for shake of all the Chinese international movie stars participating in it. Many of them responded to the call, such as: John Woo, Chang Chen, Andy Lau, Daniel Wu, Eric Tsang and Han Geng. Moreover, the CCP. Furthermore, the CCP managed to persuade Chinese corporations and multinational companies to book theatres for whole days and encourage their employees to view the film, by providing them, the film tickets for free, as well as holding celebrations in all major Chinese cities.  The only thing missing is getting Shakira and Beyonce performing live, wearing a “I love Mao” ribbon.

As you can easily imagine, the CCP  also enforced  protective measures in order to safeguard its product (the film): the ratings from the most prominent Chinese film websites, regarding the specific film, are missing, although,  the IMDB.com rates the film 2,2[3] out of 10, giving an indication regarding the film’s dynamic. At the mean time, various independent Chinese bloggers seem to verify Western suspicions [4] by reporting  film screenings on empty theatres, while others (as reported by Wikipedia[5]) making sardonic comments on twitter such as: “Danger! Do not imitate! The show is performed by professionals (meaning the actors portrayed in revolting against Kuomintang /”KTM”); imitation will lead to imprisonment or disappearance”

Ranking is essential to any SEO project, sure, but what do we really know about ranking? Most people fail to understand today, just how important ranking is. Well, over the past few months, i’ve started gathering info over the internet (e.g. Google’s Webmaster Guidlines ) and i came up with a list-so here it is:

1. Keywords on your webpage: the more focused and clear the content is on your website-meaning title, metatags, headings-the better your chances of a high rank.

2. Quality, guantity and context of your incoming links. Here, you must always remember that your links should refer to (other) relevant sites, otherwise chances are that you ranking will not improve significantly. One link from a  government or public institution count much-much more than 1 whole page of links from «normal» sites.

3. Age of your domain: Google values old domains because they inspire trust-meaning: if your site is operational for many years this is an indication that you have an established / credible business.

4. How often visitors click to your webpage from the search engines. According to Google this is also a good indication regarding your site.

5. How long visitors stay on your site, once they get there. This is very important, because if Google see’s that your visitors only stay on your website for moments, and then they leave to other «greener pastures», this means that your content was not good enough to attract them or catpure their attention. And we all know what this means: a one-way ticket to disrepute city for you and your webpage!!

6. Content is perhaps the most important factor of all: Always write content having in mind what your site visitors expect to find out from visiting your site: helpful and interesting information and material. If you dont got it-you better start thinking a career change, serving beer at TGI Fridays! My point is that you must always write content for people and not «dummy text», meaning a mosaic of different paragraphs, for the sole purpose that they contain your (selected) keywords. If your visitors are happy with your site content, chances are that they will forward your URL to their friends to check it out-i know i do..

7. Trust: Always place your FULL contact data to a weppage of your site. If visitors visit your site and they dont see any contact info, they would be overwhelmed by negative vibes. Sooner or later they will leave from your page because your simply failed to win their trust.

8. Internal link structure: make sure that your inner pages are linked correctly helping your visitors to navigate it easily. Otherwise, your visitors will feel frustrated and most probably will leave within the next 1-2 minutes.

Well, that was it!  However, the above list does not include all the factors Google takes into account regarding ranking. Thus, you will be able to discover some more (either from first-hand experience or from other SEO sites)in the near future. Keep looking for the signs and may the (SEO) force be with you!

1)Platinum SEO Pack plugin: Αυτό το plugin θεωρώ πως είναι πιο εξελιγμένο από το all in one seo pack for wordpress.Μερικά απο τα χαρακτηριστικά του είναι:Αυτόματα 301 redirects για αλλαγές στα permalinks,φτιάχνει αυτόματα seo meta tags σχετικές με τα posts,βοηθάει στην αποφυγή duplicate content και τέλος δίνει την δυνατότητα στον admin να εισάγει αυτόματα το no follow tag το noindex tag καθώς επίσης και μια άλλη σειρά από meta tags βοηθώντας τον έτσι να κερδίσει χρόνο και να γλιτώσει κόπο.

5)SEO Friendly Images: Αυτό το seo plugin βοηθάει στην βελτιστοποίηση για τις εικόνες προσθέτοντας τα σωστά tags.Ιδιαίτερα χρήσιμο για όσους χρησιμοποιούν εικόνες για το blog τους.

6)Robots Meta :Όπως είπαμε και πιο πάνω το wordpress είναι ευάλωτο στο duplicate content.Αυτό το plugin είναι ιδανικό για την καταπολέμηση του duplicate content καθώς δίνει στην δυνατότητα στον admin να “δείξει” στις μηχανές αναζήτησης ποια μέρη του blog θέλει να γίνουν crawled-indexed από τις μηχανές αναζήτησης.Έτσι λύνοντας το πρόβλημα του duplicate content μέσα στο ίδιο το blog έρχονται και καλύτερα rankings.

SEO….μια μεγάλη κουβέντα και ακόμα μεγαλύτερη τα  βήματα τα οποία πρέπει να ακολουθήσουμε για να έχουμε αποτελέσματα. Μαζέψαμε για σας ένα γρήγορο SEO Checklist ώστε να έχουμε μια βάση για να αρχίσουμε. Ωστόσο η διαδικασία για το SEO είναι χρονοβόρα και απαιτεί πολύ προσωπικό χρόνο απο μας….

SEO Check List!!

-1. Domain name:  Aν θέλουμε κίνηση από Ελλάδα ένα gr domain μας κάνει ή ένα .com , Aν θέλουμε κίνηση από εξωτερικό τότε .com είναι ιδανικό. Φροντίζουμε το domain να έχει ιδανικά τις λέξεις κλειδιά που θέλουμε χωρισμένο με παύλα είναι καλό , π.χ. λέξη-κλειδί.com ή λέξη-κλειδί.gr

2. Κάνουμε έρευνα στις λέξεις κλειδιά και ταυτόχρονα συγκρίνουμε τα 10 πρώτα sites ποιες λέξεις κλειδιά έχουν, σε τι θέσεις είναι. Εξετάζουμε ένα ένα τις λέξεις κλειδιά και βρίσκουμε ευκαιρίες για να μπούμε στη δεκάδα.

3. Τσεκάρουμε τα PR (page rank) του ανταγωνισμού (10 πρώτα sites) και το δικό μας.

4. Τσεκάρουμε τα backlinks του ανταγωνισμού και τα δικά μας.

5. Κάνουμε συγκριτική ανάλυση στα 10 πρώτα και το δικό μας site στα παρακάτω:

·         Χρήση λέξης κλειδί στο Τίτλο

·         Χρήση λέξης κλειδί στην Περιγραφή

·         Χρήση λέξης κλειδί σε όλο το URL (π.χ. για τη λέξη webdesign αν έχουμε το domain telia.co.gr θα πρέπει να φτιάξουμε ένα π.χ.: telia.co.gr/webdesign/web-design.html)

·         Ημερομηνία δημιουργίας domain – Όσο πιο παλαιό τόσο καλύτερα

·         Χρήση λέξεων κλειδιών στο H2-H6

·         Χρήση λέξεων κλειδιών στο IMG ALT

·         Xρήση λέξεων κλειδιών στο Κείμενο – Body Text

·         Πόσο εύκολα διαβάζεται η σελίδα – γλώσσα, τεχνική ορολογία

·         Θέση λέξεων κλειδιών¨: Οι βασικές λέξεις κλειδιά θα πρέπει να είναι πρώτες και στο keyword και στο description και στο Title

·         Σύνδεσμοι σε Social Networks (dig, facebook, κτλ)

·         Ταχύτητα Server

·         Mηχανές αναζήτησης που έχουν το site μας: όσα περισσότερες σελίδες και μηχανές αναζήτησης  τόσο καλύτερο

·         Inbound Links και Outbound Link που να μας έχουν, έχοντας ως τίτλο τους στο link που μας συνδέουν τη βασική λέξη κλειδί μας

·         Keyword, Title, Description Density – Πυκνότητα χρήσης λέξεων κλειδιά

·         Alexa Rank , σύγκριση

·         Για κάθε μηχανή αναζήτησης υπάρχουν διαφορετικά κριτήρια να προσαρμόσουμε το site μας. Το site μας πρέπει να είναι Search Engine Compatible

·         Aριθμός λέξεων που χρησιμοποιούμε στα Keywords, Title, Description. Δεν θα πρέπει να είμαστε παρακάτω από τα 10 Ανταγωνιστικά ούτε παραπάνω, το ιδανικό είναι κάπου στη μέση.

1.       ΠΡΟΣΟΧΗ:  Όταν κάνουμε Optimization πάντα εστιάζουμε ΜΟΝΟ ΣΕ ΜΙΑ μηχανή αναζήτησης με 2-3 maximum keywords.

2.       Φροντίζουμε ο κώδικας να είναι καθαρός

3.       Δημιουργούμε Sitemap Google Compliant και το κάνουμε submit στο Google Webmaster
