<p><strong>1. CPCs will rise</strong></p>
<p>A pretty safe bet to begin with. The recession, apparently, is coming to an end and more and more businesses are getting involved with PPC advertising. I believe that some verticals are already saturated; those that aren’t will see a large rise in CPC bids</p>
<p><strong>2. More Display Advertising</strong></p>
<p>Market saturation in AdWords is a bad thing for Google because it means they can’t grow their revenue. After their acquisition of DoubleClick of we have seen them push display advertising a lot more in their webinars, blog posts and with the new “View Through Conversion” feature. In 2009 they have made display advertising easy to use. In 2010 they must convince more businesses that display advertising offers them good ROI</p>

<p><strong>3. Conversion Attribution?</strong></p>
<p>As part of their drive to push more business advertisers into display advertising Google will begin to move away from the last click attribution model that is the core of Google Analytics (and to a certain extent, AdWords). Most businesses will use whatever attribution model Google provides but some will want to look beyond this. I think we will still be talking about this one well into 2011.</p>
<p><strong>4. Bing/Yahoo I</strong></p>
<p>The merging of Bing and Yahoo will make their combined platform more attractive to time/cash poor businesses. Their <em>share</em> of ad spend will rise but this will not be caused by people moving budget away from Google.</p>
<p><strong>5. Bing/Yahoo II</strong></p>
<p>Bing/Yahoo will try and steal advertising budget from Google by improving reporting and the ease of use for account managers. This will not work because businesses will spend their money where the customers are, but it will motivate Google to further improve their interface and reporting.</p>
<p><strong>6. Other Platforms</strong></p>
<p>Other sites will introduce their own CPC auction platforms. <a href="http://www.nytadvertising.com/was/ATWWeb/public/portalhome.jsp" target="_blank">The New York Times</a> and <a href="http://www.reddit.com/ad_inq" target="_blank">Reddit </a> have recently opened their own CPM platforms. I believe that a CPC auction will offer better value to advertisers and users so I predict that at least one online publisher will begin offering this model during 2010.</p>
<p><strong>7. Real Time Search</strong></p>
<p>I can’t imagine Google putting real time results on top of the organic listings without attempting to monetise them. It is interesting to think how they will do this because the keyword/bid model seems unsuitable.</p>
<p><strong>8. Conversion Optimiser</strong></p>
<p>Advertisers with good campaigns spend more money so I expect Google to continue to work on their conversion optimiser tool. Whether they will work on it by improving it or whether they will work on  it by improving their publicity with small advertisers I’m not sure. If it is the latter then agencies must be able to prove their worth when compared with this free and easy to use tool.</p>
<p><strong>9. Changes to the AdWords Advanced Exams</strong></p>
<p>This is not amazing futurology since people involved in the program already know about the new advanced exams which can be taken in February. Raising the accreditation bar can only be a good thing; any <a href="http://www.seoptimise.com/blog/2008/09/top-10-resources-to-pass-the-google-adwords-exam-in-a-week.html">exam which can be passed in a week</a> isn’t much of a barrier to entry. Short term this will not make much difference but longer term it will result in greater trust in the AdWords certification from potential clients. On the downside people will have to spend more time reading the gospel of Google in order to pass the exam; this will result in an obsession with display advertising (see point 2).</p>
<p><strong>10 Paid Search Will Dominate the SERPs</strong></p>
<p>A no brainer to finish. Paid/Sponsored listings will take up even more space on the Google SERPs.</p>

<p>Κανείς δεν μπορεί να εγγυηθεί την πρώτη θέση ή την προσθήκη ενός site στην πρώτη δεκάδα του Google ή του Bing, ακόμα και εκείνοι που δουλεύουν στις μηχανές αναζήτησης δεν γνωρίζουν τον αλγόριθμο των μηχανών αναζήτησης.</p>
<p><strong>2. </strong><strong> Φτιάχνουμε ένα site</strong><strong> και το γεμίζουμε keywords</strong><strong> (Λέξεις Κλειδιά) για να βγούμε στην 1<sup>η</sup> δεκάδα</strong></p>
<p>Λάθος. Τα meta keywords πλέον δεν τα λαμβάνει υπόψη το Google (<a href="http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/keywords-meta-tag-in-web-search/">http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/keywords-meta-tag-in-web-search/</a>). Aν όμως επιλέξουμε να βάλουμε λέξεις κλειδιά βάζουμε το πολύ έως 5 ανά σελίδα.</p>

<p><strong>3. Μπαίνεις στην 1η δεκάδα του Google</strong><strong> και μένεις για πάντα</strong></p>
<p>Λάθος. Το SEO απαιτεί διάρκεια και πολλές εργατο-ώρες για να μπορέσεις να κρατήσεις ένα site στην πρώτη δεκάδα των αποτελεσμάτων. Μην ξεχνάμε ότι εκτός από εμάς υπάρχουν και άλλοι που προσπαθούν να μπουν στην πρώτη δεκάδα, παράλληλα με εμάς.</p>
<p><strong>4. </strong><strong> Το SEO</strong><strong> πρέπει να το προ-πληρώσεις πριν δεις αποτελέσματα</strong></p>
<p>Λάθος. Η σωστή πολιτική είναι ότι το SEO πρέπει να πληρώνεται αφού ο πελάτης δει αποτελέσματα και δει το site του στη πρώτη σελίδα του Google. Η προσπάθεια δεν αρκεί, γι αυτό κάποιος πρέπει να το αναλαμβάνει και να το προσφέρει σαν υπηρεσία, μόνο αν το γνωρίζει καλά.</p>
<p><strong>5. </strong><strong> Όσο περισσότερο Adwords</strong><strong> (πληρωμένη διαφήμιση) κάνεις τόσο μπαίνεις στα οργανικά αποτελέσματα </strong></p>
<p>Λάθος. Δεν έχει καμία σχέση το ένα με το άλλο. Τα πληρωμένα αποτελέσματα δεν είναι SEO. Το <strong>SEO</strong> ή βελτιστοποίηση στις μηχανές αναζήτησης είναι μια σειρά εργασιών που διενεργούνται σε μια ιστοσελίδα ώστε αυτή να καταστεί φιλική προς τις μηχανές αναζήτησης και έτσι να επιτύχει υψηλές κατατάξεις &#8211; πρώτες σελίδες στα φυσικά αποτελέσματα των διεθνών μηχανών αναζήτησης. Τα <strong>πληρωμένα</strong> <strong>αποτελέσματα</strong> είναι εκείνα που εμφανίζονται δεξιά στην οθόνη σε ιδιαίτερα εμφανή σημεία και είτε είναι σε πλαίσια, είτε έχουν άλλα χρώματα, είτε έχουν την ένδειξη ΔΙΑΦΗΜΙΣΕΙΣ – ώστε ο χρήστης να τα προσέξει και να κάνει κλικ επάνω τους. Η διαφορά τους είναι σημαντική στα πληρωμένα αποτελέσματα ο χρήστης – πελάτης μπορεί να εμφανιστεί άμεσα (συνήθως μέσα σε 10 λεπτά στην πρώτη σελίδα των μηχανών αναζήτησης) και διαρκούν όσο ο χρήστης πληρώνει στις μηχανές αναζήτησης &#8211; πληρωμή με βάση το κλίκ (CPC) ή τον αριθμό εμφανίσεων (CPΜ) ή με βάση τα lead (CPL).  Στα φυσικά ή οργανικά ο χρήστης δεν απαιτείται να πληρώσει κάποιο χρηματικό ποσό στην μηχανή αναζήτησης και μπορεί να εμφανιστεί σε 1 εβδομάδα ή 6 μήνες ή και παραπάνω.</p>
<p><strong>Και μια πραγματικότητα:</strong></p>
<p>Πριν συμφωνήσετε σε μια εταιρία για SEO, δείτε τις δουλειές της, μιλήστε με τους πελάτες της, ζητήστε πολύ συγκεκριμένη προσφορά και κατανοήστε καλά τα οφέλη του «πραγματικού SEO» για την επιχείρηση σας.</p>

What I really want to do with this post is look at what makes a site rank No.1 on Bing in comparison to Google? What <a href="http://seowizz.net/">SEO</a> techniques are going to get you exposure on Bing that won’t necessarily do the same for you on Google.</p>
<p>In true SEO Wizz style I picked a keyword and took a look at the top ranking sites on Bing and Google.</p>
<p>“seo services” was the keyword, I figured we may as well keep it relevant plus this is a highly competitive keyword, with a top ppc price of £3.77, not overly high but competitive enough for our purposes.</p>
<p>Ok well we put together the following figues, take a look over them we’ll try to explore them a little.</p>
<p>The two sites I looked at are as follows:-</p>
<p><a href="http://www.whitehatmedia.com/">Whitehatmedia</a> – ranked 1 on Bing</p>
<p>and</p>
<p><a href="http://www.smart-traffic.co.uk/">Smart Traffic</a> – ranked 1 on google</p>

<p>Right let’s break this down a little.</p>
<p style="color: #e1771e; font-size: 20px;">On Page Factors</p>
<p>The Google site is slightly better optimised on page but in my opinion the differences are not enough to suggest anything major. Maybe Google takes into accounut on page optimisation more than the new bing search engine.</p>
<p>Every time I do these comparisons the top Google sites always seem to implement the meta keywords, yet they don’t use them to determine rankings anymore, right? I’d keep using them anyway, what’s the harm.</p>
<p style="color: #e1771e; font-size: 20px;">Off Page Factors</p>
<p>This is where we see clear differences between the 2 sites.</p>
<p>The Google No.1 has a massive link popularity and a better link diversity. The Google site even enjoys a more focused anchor distribution.</p>
<p>It’s nice to see the younger domain doing better on Google, half the age of the site on Bing <img class="wp-smiley" src="http://www.seowizz.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /></p>
<p style="color: #e1771e; font-size: 20px;">Linking Pages</p>
<p>The pages that link to a site have always played a major role when ranking for keywords. On Google the idea is that you should acquire links from pages that are as relevant as possible.</p>
<p>This part of the table shows that the Google site has a higher percentage of links from pages with the keyword in the body, however the bing site has more links from pages with the keyword in the title tag. Is this the key to better Bing rankings?? Could be.</p>
<p>Looking down the table it is quite clear to see what Google focuses on and why sites rank higher on Google. <strong>Link popularity, diversity, anchor distribution.</strong> On the other hand it is quite interesting to note that the site with the higher PageRank does better on Bing.</p>
<p>So top tips from SEO Wizz…..</p>
<p>If you want to rank higher on Bing:-</p>
<ul>
<li>Make your domain age increase <img class="wp-smiley" src="http://www.seowizz.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /></li>
<li>Try to acquire links from pages with your keywords in the title tag</li>
</ul>
<p>To be fair both of these tips would help your Google campaign but it seems that more emphasis is put on these factors by Bing.</p>
<p>Another thing I noticed was that both sites have implemented heavy article marketing, so keep writing and distributing that keyword focused content, it works.</p>
<p>More research needed for it to be conclusive.</p>
